The existing immigration rules of the United Kingdom allow British Nationals Overseas (BNO) citizens the opportunity to enter the country for an initial period of six months, but they must refrain from working or studying during that time period.BNO citizens and their families living in the UK and Hong Kong, or ordinarily residents, can now apply for the new bespoke route, which opens to applications from 31 January 2021.
BNO status holders and their families can make an application for this type of visa to enter the UK and stay there.Application forms are available at:
- Holders of the BNO status
- Partnering with BNO status holders
- Those under the age of 18 who are children of BNO status holders
- Children born on or after 1 July 1997 who are BNO status holders
- Applicants who apply bno visa and their unmarried partners or children (under 18)
- A BNO status holder’s adult dependent relative such as parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, sons, or daughters are eligible for BNO status if they need long-term care.
In each of these categories, applicants must reside in the same household as the BNO citizen.
Can British nationals travel overseas on a BNO visa?
In order to apply, applicants must:
- Ensure that the candidate meets the eligibility requirements in British Connections.Immigration and criminality issues may affect the suitability requirement.
- An applicant must show proof that they are a BNO status holder or a close relative living in the same household as the BNO status holder;
- If applying for entry clearance, you must ordinarily live in Hong Kong.
- Applicants for permission to stay in Hong Kong or the Isle of Man must normally be residents in the UK, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man.
- Evidence of immunity to tuberculosis must be provided.
- If they have lived in the UK for 12 months prior to applying, they will automatically meet this requirement because they can adequately maintain themselves and any dependents without recourse to public funds.
